FOSTER WP6 – Local Needs Assessment Workshop in Athens
Empowering Communities to Map Urban Climate Challenges
.
.
On June 13, 2025, IASIS successfully implemented a Local Needs Assessment Workshop in the framework of WP6 of the FOSTER project, funded by the CERV Programme of the European Union.
.
Hosted in central Athens, the event brought together over 25 participants—representing local authorities, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and active citizen – to collaboratively explore the city’s key environmental vulnerabilities.
.
Using participatory tools such as focus groups, urban risk mapping, and the World Café methodology, attendees identified and prioritized local challenges related to:
Urban heat
Flood risk
Lack of accessible green space
☁ Pollution and respiratory health
⚖ Social inequalities in climate exposure
.
The workshop concluded with a consensus-building session, where participants proposed actionable solutions and co-designed local policy priorities—setting the foundation for scenario building under WP8.
.
This event reflects the FOSTER project’s core mission:
Anticipate. Engage. Transform.
.
We thank all participants for their engagement and commitment to building a more inclusive, climate-resilient Athens.
