The MEMOIR project aims at raising the awareness about the unknown holocausts, and more specifically about the Samudaripen, i.e. the holocaust of the Roma and Sinti during World War II, the homocaust, i.e. the persecution of homosexual people and the Aktion T4 which aimed to exterminate people with disabilities.
Its aims are:
- Implementing interactive, educational activities about the forgotten exterminations in the partner countries
- Preserving the memory of the Roma, disabled and homosexual victims
- Promoting awareness among the European citizens (both young and adult) about that page of the European History, thus promoting a feeling of citizenship among the project target groups, also those which are minoritarian in Europe
- Promoting the awareness among the young generations (working closely with the local schools) about this part of the European history, against intolerance and racial discriminations.
The project is funded by Europe for Citizens programme of European Union. The partner organizations are from the following countries: Italy, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary.
